Baptism Site
Pickup from your hotel in Amman and start your drive to reach the Baptism site.
The Baptism Site “Bethany Beyond the Jordan” (Al-Maghtas) is situated on the eastern bank of the River Jordan, nine kilometres north of the Dead Sea, the archaeological site consists of two distinct areas: Tell Al-Kharrar, also known as Jabal Mar-Elias (Elijah’s Hill) and the area of the churches of Saint John the Baptist near the river. Situated in a pristine natural environment the site is believed to be the location where Jesus of Nazareth was baptized by John the Baptist. It features Roman and Byzantine remains including churches and chapels, a monastery, caves that have been used by hermits and pools in which baptisms were celebrated, testifying to the religious character of the place. The site is a Christian place of pilgrimage.
Dead Sea
Continue your drive to reach the Dead Sea which is located at 427m below sea level; the lowest point on earth. The Dead Sea is a body of intense blue water, polished smooth like oiled skin on a windless day in winter and ruffled into whitecaps by the summer winds.
Dead Sea salts and minerals have long been exploited for their skin-friendly properties.
Enter one of the superior resorts located at the shores of the Dead Sea to enjoy the Sea Water, Beach, The fresh water pools and the dead sea mud area.
